Everything you need to know about 5 gallon buckets with logo printing

A logo bucket is one of the few promotional products people refuse to throw away. Hardware stores hand them out for bucket-sale weekends, breweries fill them with merch, detailers build kits inside them, and contractors carry them until the handle gives out — with your brand riding along the whole time. The decision that shapes everything else in the order is how the logo goes on: screen print for crisp spot-color logos at modest minimums, full-wrap labels for edge-to-edge graphics, or in-mold labeling (IML) for photo-quality art fused into the bucket wall at high volume.

This guide compares the three methods on minimums, artwork coverage and durability, explains how brand-color matching works on both the bucket and the print, and walks through the programs buyers actually run — co-op promotions, brewery merch, detailing kits and event giveaways. Why a branding program

One bucket order, years of brand impressions

Ordering 5 gallon buckets with logo printing isn’t a one-off swag buy — done right, it’s a standing program. One approved artwork file runs across reorders, seasonal promotions and multiple bucket colors, so every batch reinforces the same look on shelves, job sites and giveaways.

Kept, not tossed

A bucket is useful for a decade. Unlike a flyer or a pen, your logo keeps working every time someone hauls, mixes, stores or gardens with it.

Matched to your brand

Bucket resin colors and print inks are matched to your Pantone references, so the bucket on the shelf agrees with the sign above it.

Method fits the plan

Screen print for a 100-bucket pilot, full wrap for retail shelf impact, IML for the 5,000-unit program — same logo, right tool each time.

Print methods compared

Screen print, full wrap or IML: which fits your logo program?

The three methods trade off minimum quantity against artwork coverage and permanence. Screen print starts at the lowest minimums; full-wrap labels cover the whole sidewall; in-mold labeling fuses the graphic into the plastic itself but makes sense at higher volumes.

Typical minimum order by print method

0 100 500 1k 5k+ Screen 1-color ~100 min Screen multi ~250 min Full wrap ~500 min IML ~5,000 min

Vertical axis is stepped, not linear — IML minimums sit an order of magnitude above screen print because the label runs inside the molding process itself.

Sidewall artwork coverage by method

Full wrap and IML both go edge to edge around the sidewall; IML adds photo-quality detail and a graphic that can’t peel because it’s part of the wall.

MethodTypical minimumArtworkDurability
Screen print Lowest entry~100 (1 color)Spot-color logos, up to a few colorsCured ink; resists scuffing in normal use
Full-wrap label~500Edge-to-edge graphics, gradients, photosLaminated film; strong indoor/outdoor life

Materials & build

The bucket under the logo is built to work

Every printed bucket starts as a 90-mil HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pail — the standard heavy-duty spec with a reinforced rim, steel handle and stackable profile. That matters for a branding program: a flimsy bucket with a beautiful logo gets replaced by a plain one, and your branding goes to the curb with it.

Food-grade material options are available for breweries, bakeries and anyone whose bucket might carry ingredients, and UV-stabilized resins help outdoor buckets keep both their color and your print looking right. Lids — plain, printed or spouted — are available across the range, so a giveaway kit can seal like a product.

  • 90-mil HDPE body — the heavy-duty industry standard
  • Steel handle, plastic grip — comfortable full-load carry
  • Food-grade options — food-safe materials are available for kits and brewing
  • UV-stabilized resins — outdoor color that holds up
  • Stackable, tapered profile — palletizes and ships efficiently
  • Lid options — plain, printed or spouted to finish the kit

Matching printed lids, spouted lids for liquids, and food-grade builds for kits that hold ingredients.

Program reorders

Approved artwork stays on file — seasonal reorders and second colorways run without new setup.

Color guide

Bucket colors buyers actually order

White dominates because it’s the best canvas for any logo — but color-coding and brand matching keep the rest of the palette busy. What each base color tends to be used for:

WhiteThe default logo canvas — most orders
Safety orangeJob sites, hardware promos
RedRetail bucket sales, bold brands
BlueDetailing kits, car washes
YellowCaution kits, high visibility
GreenGarden centers, eco brands
BlackPremium merch, breweries
Custom matchYour Pantone, molded in (volume runs)

Rule of thumb: dark logos on white or yellow buckets, white or single-color logos on dark buckets. We proof your art on the exact base color before anything prints.

How to choose the right logo bucket setup

Start with quantity and what the bucket will do — those two answers pick the method, color and lid for you.

Bulk pricing

How logo bucket pricing works

Buckets price per unit, and four levers move the number: print method, number of colors or wrap coverage, bucket color (stock vs custom-matched resin), and quantity. Screen print wins at small runs; IML’s per-unit cost drops hard once volume clears its minimum — which is exactly when programs switch to it.

FAQ

Logo bucket questions, answered

What’s the minimum order for 5 gallon buckets with a logo?
It depends on the print method: single-color screen printing typically starts around 100 buckets, full-wrap labels around 500, and in-mold labeling around 5,000. Tell us your quantity and we’ll quote the methods that fit it.
What is in-mold labeling (IML)?
IML places a printed label into the mold before the bucket is formed, so the graphic fuses into the plastic wall itself. The result is photo-quality art that can’t peel, scratch off or wash away — the trade-off is a higher minimum quantity, which is why it suits standing programs.
Screen print vs full wrap — how do I choose?
Screen print is the value pick for spot-color logos at lower quantities. Full wrap covers the entire sidewall with edge-to-edge graphics, gradients and photos, and starts making sense around 500 units. If your artwork is a clean logo, screen print; if it’s a scene or a retail-shelf design, wrap.
Can you match my exact brand colors?
Yes, in two ways: print inks and wrap labels are matched to your Pantone (PMS) references on every run, and on volume orders the bucket resin itself can be custom-matched so the pail is your brand color before any ink touches it.
How durable is the printed logo?
Screen-printed ink is cured onto the HDPE and stands up to normal hauling and washing; wrap labels are laminated films built for indoor and outdoor use; IML graphics are part of the bucket wall and last as long as the bucket does.
Are the buckets food grade?
Food-safe material options are available — specify food grade in your quote request if the buckets will hold ingredients, brewing supplies or anything edible, and we’ll build the order on the appropriate resin and lid.
What are the buckets made of?
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) in the standard heavy-duty 90-mil wall spec, with a reinforced rim and steel handle. They stack, palletize and survive job-site life — which is the whole point of putting your logo on one.
Can you print the lids too?
Yes. Lids can be printed to match the bucket, left plain, or upgraded to spouted versions for liquids. Matching printed lids finish a retail or giveaway kit nicely.
Can I print different designs in one order?
Yes — multiple artwork versions or bucket colors can run within one order. Each version carries its own setup, so note the split in your quote request and we’ll price it accurately.
What artwork file do you need?
Vector artwork (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) prints cleanest, especially for screen printing. For full wrap and IML we can also work from high-resolution raster art. Send what you have and we’ll flag anything that needs sharpening before proofing.
How long does an order take?
Screen-printed runs generally move fastest after proof approval; wrap orders take a bit longer, and IML runs are scheduled around molding. Share your event or launch date in the quote request and we’ll confirm a timeline against it.
Do you keep my artwork on file for reorders?
Yes — approved artwork and color specs stay on file, so seasonal reorders and additional colorways run without re-doing setup, keeping your program consistent batch to batch.
Can I see a sample before the full run?
For larger orders we can arrange a pre-production sample or press proof so you confirm the print and color on the actual bucket before the full quantity runs. Ask when you request your quote.
How do I get a quote?
Use the custom quote form with your logo, quantity, bucket color and how the buckets will be used — you’ll get back method recommendations, a proof plan and exact pricing.
